Hey, I just met you and this is crazy! But here's my number so call me maybe :)

I was so tired last night that I went right to bed when I got home instead of blogging. Sorry! So yesterday we all went to the Victoria and Albert Museum as a group. Me and Brittany had gone through most of the museum already and it was all so strange that I wasn't really excited about going. However, apparently there was a whole exhibit on theater that we totally missed! So we spend a good hour going through the exhibit and it was so fun! There were mini stages that you could change the lighting and the set in and there was even a little sound booth where you could play around with sound effects. And of course there were costumes to try on! We had a lot of fun with the costumes. Then we went home and got some homework done. When we were finished, Brittany and I were going to go to the National Portrait Gallery but then she reminded me that I had bought a ticket to go see Macbeth at the Globe! I had totally forgotten! The performance was at 2:30 and it was already 2 so I ran to the tube, rode it for about 25 minutes, and then ran to the Globe. I only missed the first scene and apparently it wasn't that big of a deal. So Macbeth was a part of the Globe to Globe Shakespeare Festival that we saw Hip Hop Othello at. Macbeth was done by Poland and the concept was a crack/whore house thing. It was so weird and it was in Polish but I know the play really well so I could follow it for the most part. There were some really good performances by some of the actors and some very moving parts but as a whole I definitely did not like it. It was very scattered and didn't really flow at all. And it was just really strange. I just keep telling myself that it was a good cultural experience...

After that we all went to see As You Like It in this tiny little theater above a bar. It was very intimate and kind of fun because we were so close to the actors. It also helped that the actors playing Orlando and Oliver were very very very attractive :) Haha, none of us could believe how gorgeous they were! They were also pretty good at acting if you ask me :) I really enjoyed the performance. I think it was one of my favorite performances of Shakespeare ever. Because it was in a tiny theater and looked pretty low budget, the focus was on the language. Their diction was amazing and I didn't have any trouble understanding what they were saying at all! Each actor/actress also really seemed to understand what they were saying so they were able to act in a way that helped the audience understand as well. It was great! And as we left the theater we were singing "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepson because we all wanted to give that actor playing Orlando our number. Haha, it was a fun night :)

set design for Lady Gaga's tour

This was a model of a 60's cruise ship in the middle of Auschwitz to show the contrast between the tragedy of concentration camps and the people living perfect lives and not being affected by it. Very interesting.

  1. Set models are seriously the COOLEST things ever. I got to rebuild a bunch that they found in the library when I was working at the University Museum last semester! Lots of fun. I wish I could think up stuff like that!

Keep the pictures coming, babe! It looks like you're having an awesome time!
