Thursday May 10th:
We all met as a group at the National Theater to take a backstage tour! It was so cool! They had props from previous shows and we got to see them building the set for a new show starting later this month. It was so exciting! They also had one of the original War Horse puppets and it was so cool! I'm so excited to be able to see that play in a few weeks. After the tour me and Taylor decided to go see the Misterman matinee. It was a very interesting play but I really enjoyed it. It's an absurdest, one man play and the actor in it is Cilian Murphy from Batman, Red Eye, and Inception. He was so good! It's hard to explain what the play is about but if you have a chance to see it, you totally should! After that we went over to the National Art Gallery to look around. When we got there though, a lot of the exhibits were closed because of a strike or something. However, the impressionist exhibit was still open and that was my favorite. Monet is one of my favorite artists and they had a lot of his work in the exhibit along with paintings by Renoir, Van Gogh, Pissaro, Cezanne, Degas, and Manet. It was amazing! They had this painting called The Beach At Trouville by Monet and the plaque said that he had painted it on the beach and you could even see the pieces of sand and shell stuck in the painting! It was so cool! Then we grabbed some dinner and went over to the theater to see One Man Two Guvnors with our group. It was really funny! A lot of it was a little too over the top for me but most of it was really funny. There was a lot of audience interaction as well. It was a little different for me but I did enjoy the play in the end. Then after the play, me and Cosette had to run to the Hyde Park Chapel to meet with someone from the Stake Presidency so we could go to the temple with the group the next morning. After about an hour we finally had everything figured out so I came home and went to bed.
Friday May 11th:
Today we all got up and took the train out to the London Temple. The train ride was great and the countryside was soooooo beautiful! The temple was beautiful, too. It was such a great experience. We all got to eat fish and chips in the cafeteria afterwards as well and it was so good! The temple grounds were so pretty! There were so many flowers and we took so many pictures! It was a really fun and peaceful day. Then I went and saw Spring Awakening with some girls in our group. I loved the show but the talent in it was not that great. The actors and actresses weren't very believable and didn't sing too great but as a whole the production was good. I would love to see it done on Broadway or at least with a bigger budget. It was a lot of fun.
Saturday May 12th (Today!!):
Today I got up and met my cousin Sara to go to Windsor Castle! Sara is here for work so we decided to meet up and hang out! It was so fun! The castle is beautiful. And apparently it is where the queen lives. She was there today, too! We didn't see her though. We got to see Queen Mary's dollhouse and it was amazing! It was huge and every room was extremely intricate and detailed. It was a mansion dollhouse so there were a million rooms and a garage with old cars and a huge garden. It was the coolest thing ever! I would love to build a dollhouse like that for my kids. After we went through the castle we decided to stop and get some tea and cake. I got raspberry swirl cheesecake and red berry tea. It was so good! Now I'm home and I'll probably watch a movie or something and then head to bed. I am sooooo tired!!
Things Janessa and Brittany say:
- *after buying a Kinder egg* J: I just love holding it. It's so cute! B: Yeah, that's why I buy food, too.
Things British people say:
- At the National Gallery there was a boy about 7 or 8 years old looking at a painting by Pissaro of a scene in Paris. He was convinced that it was a painting of the place Ceasar was killed. "I know daddy! This is where Ceasar was killed! The person who painted this is wrong! That's not a viaduct." Hahaha :)
Also, Ed Sheeran premiered his new video for his new single "Small Bump" yesterday!! It's so good :)
And here are my pictures from Windsor!!
