"I must uphold my ideals, for perhaps the time will come when I shall be able to carry them out." Anne Frank

Today we went to the Imperial War Museum. It was really cool and one of my favorite places that we've been so far. First we went to the WWI and WWII exhibits in the basement. We walked through and saw a lot of uniforms and propaganda from the time and learned a lot about the English perspective of the wars. On the WWI side they had a trench experience which means we got to walk through a trench they had built to kind of get a feel for what it would have looked like and been like to fight there. It smelled awful and it was dark and dank. I did not like it. Then on the WWII side they had a Blitz experience where you go through a simulation of what happened that night. It was really dark and made me jump a few times. I realized that I would not have been able to handle that if I had to go through it. I almost wanted to cry for all of the people who had to experience it, especially the kids. And then we went through the Holocaust exhibit. Wow. It was so emotional and very interesting to see it from the English perspective. I learned a lot about the Ghettos and things leading up to the war that I didn't know before I went. It's just heart wrenching to read through what happened to these poor innocent people. I did find out though that George Gershwin was a Jewish immigrant to the US. I thought that was cool! But I don't really know how to describe the rest of the exhibit. I still cannot believe that Hitler thought the Jews and other minorities were inferior to the Aryan race. It just blows my mind that you could look at a human being and not think they are a human being. It was so sad and every time I saw a picture of a child I wanted to cry. After we made it through the museum we decided to unwind from our heavy morning and get some yummy Italian food for dinner/lunch. We went to Zizzi's and it was amazing! It was so delicious. Then me and Meghan headed over to the BFI Imax theater to watch the red carpet premier for What to Expect When You're Expecting. It was really fun but I wasn't close enough to get pictures with anyone this time. I tried to push my way to the front but these two really big guys were in front of me and it was very hard/impossible to get past them. However, the guy next to them was really nice and held my notebook out so it could get signed because I was too squished to reach my arm over everyone. So I got autographs from Anna Kendrick, Chase Crawford, and Mathew Morrison. Chase Crawford is so attractive :) I love movie premiers so much! I'm adding that to my list of reasons why I should move to California :) Then we had to take a taxi over to the New London theater so we would be on time for War Horse! It was great! I loved the play. I think I liked the movie a little more but the play is definitely in the top 5 for plays I've seen here. So hopefully I'll have time to blog about Rome tomorrow but until then... Ciao!
