So we made it through our maths (for some reason math is plural here, haha) class this week! It was stressful but it was also pretty fun. Our teacher was a little bit nuts. Her name is Helen and she liked to insult us. Hahaha, she basically told Kylie she’s rubbish and wouldn’t let any of us get a word in edgewise when she asked us questions. She also looked a lot like Madame Hooch. One day she was yelling, "Bin it!" at us and we couldn't understand what she was saying! We thought she was saying, "Bit it," for the longest time. Hahaha, finally we figured out that she meant to throw it away in the rubbish bin! She was crazy but we did a ton of fun activities. We had to figure out proportions and draw out how big a giant was based on just his hand. So we had to calculate all of the measurements and then draw it out. It was super fun! We did a couple other activities with measurement as well. We also had to come up with a dance to do to a rap about adding doubles. Hahaha, it was hilarious! Today we made Tapas. They some sort of island design thing. I wasn’t really paying attention when she explained it… but they were really cool! We drew out a grid on some brown paper and then drew out a design. We colored in what we wanted to be black and then we dyed the whole thing. Then we took bleach and used q-tips to make certain parts of the paper white. So they turned out really awesome! It was so fun! We did a lot of critical thinking and explanations so after class every day we were exhausted! We came home and attempted to get some homework done and then fell asleep pretty much every day. Every once in a while I’ll play a game with Snowden and Sizzle or play the piano but most of the time I’m just too tired to do anything. They keep asking me to read them stories before they go to bed, too which is fun. I love it! The other night we also did some work outs and ended up dancing for a while. Snowden is so good! I took a video of her doing the Dougie and she is awesome. She’s only 7 years old by the way. Haha, she’s so funny. On Tuesday we went to see Rise of the Guardians and it was awesome! I loved it. It was so cute and the music was great! If you haven’t seen it yet, then you totally should! I also got to skype with some of my friends back in Provo this week. The connection wasn’t very good so we only got to talk for about 20 minutes but it was so great to talk to them. I love it here but I miss my friends a lot. My family has been pretty busy and it’s hard to coordinate times to talk because of my lack of internet and the time difference so I haven’t gotten to talk to them as much as I would like to and I miss them a lot, too. But it’s beautiful here and I love it, I really do. I’m nervous for practicum to start though but we have a break before that starts. After we get done with class we are taking a two week trip down to the south island. So that will be a nice break before we start teaching. We are driving all over and hopefully seeing all the Lord of the Rings filming sights. I’m super excited.
